Loughborough Students Union Redevelopment Completed

Over the last 7 years Kribensis Leisure Contracts (KLC) has built up a strong partnership with Loughborough Students Union having undertaken numerous construction projects on their renowned union building. Having told you a few weeks ago about our summer redevelopment project at the Union, we are pleased to announce that the project was successfully completed in time for the new university year and is proving very popular following its official opening at the end of September.

The scheme included some external alterations and major interior alterations to the main Piazza, including the creation of a new reception, full refurbishment of the student hub, coffee shop refurbishment, creation of two meeting rooms, and new W.C’s.

The project also involved the incorporation of contemporary Malaysian restaurant Jom Makan into the union building. Having successfully undertaken fit-out projects on two Jom Makan restaurants in 2008 and 2009 (Westfield Shopping Centre and Pall Mall, London), KLC were appointed to convert an existing retail space within the student centre to create a third restaurant, the first located outside London.

2009 at KLC

Following a full restaurant refurbishment for the award winning Siam Corner Group and a refurbishment of the sophisticated Aquum bar in Clapham at the end of 2008, the KLC team delivered several new projects around the U.K in 2009, including a full fitout of Davy's Winebar at Woolgate Exchange, London.

In 2009 KLC also undertook a second project for the Jom Malaysia Group, creating another Jom Makan Restaurant, this time at Westfield Shopping Centre, London. This was a 10 week project that involved the partial demolition and conversion of a crown estates building into a high quality malaysian restaurant. In 2009, KLC were also pleased to announce their ongoing partnership with Loughborough University, completing another refurbishment of their renowned student union venue in time for the new university year. The revamp included a number of technical innovations including the innovative Windows of the World installation.
